Michael Tewalt has served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force and the Alabama Air National Guard, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. About Michael Tewalt

Michael Tewalt is the founder and owner of The Tewalt Law Firm, LLC and currently serves as a Madison County Circuit Court Referee Judge, presiding over cases within Alabama’s Child Support Enforcement Program. In this role, he conducts hearings, rules on motions, and works closely with the Alabama Department of Human Resources on both interstate and intrastate enforcement matters.

In addition to his civilian legal work, Michael serves as a Lieutenant Colonel (O-5) and Staff Judge Advocate with the Alabama Air National Guard’s 187th Fighter Wing. His military service has been recognized with numerous awards and commendations.

Michael previously served as a Senior Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Alabama and as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Terry F. Moorer in the Middle District of Alabama. His background also includes service as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate and Area Defense Counsel in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps.

Michael is married to his wife Yuliya and is the proud father of five children, including two adopted children. Family, service, and integrity guide his life and his commitment to justice.
